Friends of Mine

Friends of Mine cafe is a cute little corner cafe in Richmond with equal measure glamour and rustic charm. Top notch ingredients are sourced from Victoria’s boutique and artisan producers and the menu includes the sublime smashed avocado with mushrooms, marinated fetta and torn basil on chunky wholegrain and of course great coffee.

The design of Friends of Mine features recycled and sustainable timbers, raw brickwork, remodeled antique chandeliers, designer table lamps, century old French mirrors, aged leather seating, all within a myriad of rooms each with their own distinct feel. The fitout has been a working collaboration with Icke & Igby.

Heading the kitchen is Jason Flygenring, who more recently has overseen the kitchens at Outlook Hill (formally ‘Cru’), Balgownie Estate Winery & the acclaimed Chameleon Restaurant in New Zealand. The menu is simple, unpretentious, classic fare allowing the produce to speak for itself, with larger plates at lunch and the glass counter at the entrance laden with “sweeties darling” such as freshly baked muffins and scones to enjoy in or take away.

The café is open seven days a week, with breakfast being served all day.
